The Allsparks Awarded 2nd YNAPP Grant for 'Bricks and Bots' Youth Initiative in Las Vegas

It is the second time that The Allsparks, a dynamic community organization that fosters youth leadership and participates in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) education initiatives, has been awarded the Youth Neighborhood Association Partnership Program (YNAPP) grant! The 2024/2025 YNAPP grant supports "Bricks and Bots," a two-part project designed to inspire and engage the Las Vegas community.

The YNAPP grant empowers youth to spearhead neighborhood-based service-learning projects. These initiatives, driven by the passion and ingenuity of young minds, aim to enact positive changes within the vibrant city of Las Vegas.

Brought to life by young leaders with a passion for LEGO® and learning, Bricks and Bots taps into the power of play and the potential of STEAM education. The project was inspired by the success of Brick-a-Thon, a previous YNAPP-supported event that brought the community together around the joy of LEGO building. This year, Bricks and Bots takes the experience to a whole new level by adding the magic of robotics and block coding to the mix.

Two Parts, One Powerful Purpose

Part 1: Bricks Session

These family-friendly LEGO building sessions are all about imagination. With a mountain of colorful bricks and baseplates, participants ages 4 years and up will build anything they can dream up—from creatures to cities. It’s a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and joyful play.

Part 2: Bots Session

Older kids (ages 9 and up) dive into the world of coding with LEGO Education SPIKE™ Prime kits. Using intuitive, drag-and-drop block coding, participants will learn how to bring their robots to life. These sessions combine hands-on building with beginner-friendly tech skills, sparking interest in robotics and coding in a fun and accessible way.

Neighborhood Engagement

Hosted at the Summerlin Library, Bricks and Bots turns the community space into a vibrant hub of learning, laughter, and imagination. Adults and youth collaborate throughout the project, with young leaders guiding the planning, while local mentors offer support and encouragement.

Bricks and Bots doesn’t just build models—it builds confidence, curiosity, and community. With support from YNAPP, we’re investing in the leaders, innovators, and changemakers of tomorrow. Together, we can build something truly awesome!
